SYMBOL OF COLOR NAMES IN THE BALLET
Abstract
The article reveals the role of color adjectives in the names of ballets. It is proved that the color tokens in the
names of ballets are semiotic markers – an effective way to enhance the attention and imagination of the audience, which generates the corresponding associations and feelings. Color acts as an important means not only of the figurative characteristics of the characters, but also contributes to the holistic comprehension of the artistic image of the work. Also, the color in the scenographic design of ballets is a compositional factor in the content of the work. The color names of works of art direct attention to the system of color symbols, which, as a rule, is typical in a ballet theater. It was noted that in the ballet both own stable associations were formed («white ballet» – white color as a symbol of absolute purity and etherealness), as well as generally accepted ones (black – death: Black Shawl, red – blood Red Giselle; blue – freshness , love: The Blue Danube, etc.).
