THE HISTORY OF THE SMORGACHEVA-LUKIN BALLET DUET

Abstract

In this article we have analyzed stage creativity of Smorgachova – Lukin ballet duet, which brightly showed itself in 1970th – first half of the 1980th. In this publication we have examined historiography of the problem, reviewed artistic biography of S. Lukin, analyzed scenic achievements of L. Smorgachova and determined basic stages of their artistic cooperation in duo. We have shown that basic stages of S. Lukin biography were studying at Kyiv choreographic academy (1962–1971), work as a ballet artist in Kyiv National opera and ballet theatre(1971–1990), studying at Kyiv state institute of physical culture (1982–1987) etc. Basic stages of L. Smorgachova biography were studying at Kyiv choreographic academy (1960–1969), work as a ballet artist in Kyiv National opera and ballet theatre (1969–1994), studying at Moscow university of theatrical art (1984–1989), pedagogic experience at international center of development of choreographic art (from 1998). It has also been emphasized, that creative cooperation of L. Smorgachova and S. Lukin has begun in 1974. From that moment, they started to perform most leading duos from the National opera and ballet theatre’s repertoire. In 1978, on the second international ballet competition in Tokyo, the couple received a golden medal. In the next years the dancers have presented several concert programs staged by M. Petipa, M. Bejar, B. Eyfman, A. Pliseckiy, P. Vizyrenko-Klyavin, A. Shekera, V. Kovtun, etc. Scientificnovelty of the article is in exploring the history of Ukrainian ballet duo performances based on the example of the Smorgacheva-Lukin duet.
