Abstract

In the article the suite of V. Kyreyko for violin and piano, created on the basis of the pre-written ballet «The
Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors» by M. Kotsubynsky's novel. The six parts of the suite summarize the leading storyline, revealing the features of characters and relationships of the protagonists through a series of dance numbers and scenes of lamentation. The product is analyzed through the double optics of two software primary sources: novella and ballet. Thanks to these impulses, the suite is imbued with the poetry of the mountainous region, its natural and musical beauty. In addition, the musical material of the work is marked by features of dance plastics and rhythms.
