SOCIOCULTURAL, AESTHETIC, ARTISTIC AND DESIGN BACKGROUNDS OF HISTORICAL METHOD SPREADING IN DESIGN PRACTICES DURING 1950–1970
Abstract
The article deals with the sociocultural, aesthetic-artistic and design backgrounds of historical method spreading in design practices during 1950–1970s and their influence on the choice of historical sources, methods of design and the structure of artistic and design images. The socio-psychological determinacy of historical method and its compensatory function in 1950s – the first half of 1960s were reasoned. The influence of socio-psychological factors on designers’ creative reinterpretation of the stylistics of rococo, neo-rococo and Belle Époque and spreading of «New Look» style was revealed. It was emphasized that the important factor of the initial formation of «eclectic historicism» concept in 1970 became the aesthetics of postmodernism reflected in the free game by the cultural codes.
